Descripción
Species of predatory sea snail, native to central and western parts of the Mediterranean Sea, the Indian Ocean, and South China Sea. It was used to make expensive purple dye since Antiquity; it produces a milky secretion that turns into a powerful and lasting dye when exposed to air.
