Descripción

Phylum that includes such diverse animals as the clams, mussels, scallops, oysters, and cockles, as well as slugs, snails, nautiluses, cuttlefishes, squids, and octopuses. Mollusks are wholly or partly enclosed in a calcium carbonate shell secreted by a soft mantle covering the body. Different species occur in marine, freshwater, and terrestrial habitats.
