Genus containing around 13 species of pinelike plants native from the Philippines to Australia and New Zealand; cultivated elsewhere as ornamental plants in warm areas or in greenhouses. Several species yield hard resins or gums used in making varnishes, patent leather, sealing wax, and other products.
