Descripción
Genus containing around 20 species of large trees found in tropical areas of Mexico, Central America, South America, the Bahamas, Belize, the Caribbean, West Africa, and Southeast Asia. Formerly was placed in the now defunct family Bombacaceae; now generally placed in family Malvales, subfamily Bombacoideae.
