Descripción

Species of small to medium-sized hornbeam tree having a twisted trunk that branches profusely; may grow to 20 m (65 feet) in height. One variety bears normal and oaklike leaves on the same tree. It is used in landscape gardening, mainly as tall hedges and for topiary, as timber, slow-burning firewood, and as food for various animals.
