Descripción

Order containing four living species in one family. Characterized as huge quadrupeds having long curving ivory tusks, a prehensile trunk or proboscis, columnar legs, a huge head with temporal glands, and wide flat ears. There were at least 170 fossil species, such as mammoths and mastodons.
