Visible storage

Refers to methods of making storage areas in openly accessible. Collections on view are often only a small portion of an institution’s total holdings. Physical objects previously hidden from view may be shared with the public through such means as glass wall bays exposing contents of storage areas; or by visitable study collections in storage space available for viewing and research by students, scholars, and the general public.
