<skos:note xml:lang="en">Refers to the period, culture, and art of ancient Greece that begins around the mid-eighth century BCE and ends in the early fifth century BCE, with the Persian invasion. It is characterized by the introduction of the alphabet from Phoenicia, the establishment of important city states and colonies, the establishment of the open square, or agora, in city planning, and distinctive styles in painting, sculpture, and architecture. In vase painting, the stylized beasts of the Orientalizing period were replaced by more naturalistic figures in Black-figure and then Red-figure styles. In sculpture, more naturalistic forms developed from the stiff, canonical Egyptian figures of the Orientalizing period. In architecture, the Doric and Ionic orders were developed.</skos:note>
<skos:note xml:lang="es">Se refiere al período, cultura y arte de Grecia antigua que empieza alrededor de mediados y fines del siglo VIII a.C y principios del siglo V a.C, con la invasión Persa. Se caracteriza por la introducción del alfabeto Fenicio, el establecimiento de importantes ciudades estados y colonias, el establecimiento de la plaza pública o ágora, en el plano de la ciudad y estilos distintivos en pintura, escultura y arquitectura. En la pintura de vasijas, las bestias estilizadas del período orientalizante fueron reemplazadas por figuras más naturalistas en los estilos de figuras en negro y luego en figuras en rojo. En escultura, las formas más naturalistas evolucionaron de las figuras egipcias canónicas y rígidas del período de orientalización. En arquitectura, se desarrollaron los órdenes dóricos y jónicos.</skos:note>

Deze stijl kenmerkt zich door de introductie van het alfabet vanuit Foenicië, de stichting van belangrijke stadstaten en kolonies, het ontstaan van het openbare plein –de agora – in het ontwerp van steden, en typische stijlen in de schilderkunst, beeldhouwkunst en architectuur. In de vaasschilderkunst werden de gestileerde dieren uit de oriëntaliserende periode vervangen door meer naturalistische figuren in de zwartfigurige en later de roodfigurige stijl. In de beeldhouwkunst ontwikkelden zich meer naturalistische vormen vanuit de stijve, orthodoxe Egyptische figuren uit de oriëntaliserende periode. In de architectuur kwamen de Dorische en de Ionische bouworde tot ontwikkeling.</skos:note>
