Formalin

Aqueous formaldehyde solution containing 37% by weight of formaldehyde. In conservation it has been used as a fluid preserving medium, and, as an aerosol and fumigant, to treat algae on stone at sites such as the Lascaux caves. Formerly a brand name, now in common usage.
