Descripción

Soluble red or purple-brown powder extracted from the dried female scale insect Dactylopius coccus. The percentage of acidity changes the color of Carminic acid from a bright red to yellow or deep violet. It is the primary ingredient in cochineal dyestuff and is used in paint pigments, color photography, and textile dyeing.
