Secondary supports

Substances to which a primary support for a work are attached. The distinction of "secondary support" is reserved for situations where a "primary support" is also employed. For example, chalk may be applied to a primary support, paper, to make a drawing; and the paper support could then be mounted to a secondary support, cardboard.
