Pictorial journalism (discipline)

Communicaton to a mass audience of news and related commentary through prints, photographs, or other images, without accompanying text or with written material subordinate to the pictorial elements. Where the images comprise only modern photographs, "photojournalism (discipline)" is more commonly used.
