Descripción
Comparative study of the characteristics of religious systems in different societies that focuses on the origin and evolution of religious beliefs and practices from earlier or less urbanized societies to modern ones, aims to develop a universal evolutionary continuum of religions, and stresses a scientific methodology. For the comparative study of religions that largely disregards evolutionary schemes and features a primarily historical methodology, use "religious history."
