Field of study developed by Austrian educator and philosopher Rudolf Steiner (1861-1925) to develop a scientific and intuitive faculty of cognition and the realization of spiritual reality. Students were said to acquire ultrasensitive perception by means of a type of meditation. It was greatly influenced by the religious ideology theosophy.
