Hydrology

Generally, the study of the earth's water. Specifically, the science that studies the occurrence and movement of water on and over the surface of the earth. The main processes with which hydrology is concerned are precipitation, evaporation and transpiration, stream flow, and groundwater flow. Applications include flood control and the supply of water for domestic and industrial purposes, irrigation, and hydroelectric power.
