The science of planning and overseeing the preservation, maintenance, use, and development of land, often public land, including the wildlife habitats, plant and animal species, timber, minerals, oil and gas, geothermal energy, recreation areas, areas of cultural importance, rivers and other water bodies, conservation and wilderness areas, open-spaces, and construction found on the land.
