Plique-à-jour

A process of enameling similar to cloisonné, except that the narrow wires or strips of metal are soldered to each other instead of to a metal base. Usually applies to jewelry and metal objects but may also apply to porcelain decorated by this technique such as that produced at Limoges in the 19th century.
