Descripción
Deteriorative weathering mechanism caused by cycle of fluctuation in temperature below and above the freezing point of water. At temperatures above freezing, liquid water seeps into cracks, expanding within them in the form of ice as temperature falls below the freezing point. Repeated freeze-thaw cycles may lead to deterioration of stone and such effects as spalling in masonry, and potholes in roads.
