Descripción
A beamhouse operation, following bating, in which dehaired hides and skins are soaked in or saturated with 12% salt and 1.2% sulfuric acid to either prepare them for chrome tanning, or to preserve them to be stored for later tanning. Distinct from "brining", which is the soaking of hides and skins in strong salt solution to cure them before transportation to tanneries.
