Descripción

Sculpture construction technique referred to as wood-core dry lacquer where layers of lacquer soaked cloth are applied over a solid wooden mold. This technique was popular during the last half of the Nara (710-749) period, replacing the hollow dry-lacquer technique, "dakkatsu kanshitsu." As the technique developed, more details were added to the wood form and the cloth layers became thinner.
