Getty AAT: Processes and techniques by specific type

Jerarquía

image-making processes and techniques > <typography and typographic processes and techniques> > typographic techniques

Descripción

The setting of type characters closer together than would normally or automatically be done; for visual effect, usually to close an unsightly gap. With metal type, the body of the type is cut for a closer fit; in photocomposition, minute increments of backspacing are used.
