Descripción
Japanese painting technique, popular in the Heian (794-1185) and Kamakura (1185-1333) periods, where layers of opaque color are applied over an underdrawing. Ink lines are then carefully redrawn and facial features are added. This technique is associated with "yamato-e" and was the technique used in the creation of The Tale of Genji handscroll.
