Descripción

The art of creating elaborate flourishes to decorate the margins or otherwise blank spaces in a work of calligraphy. Especially common in European copybooks of the 17th and early 18th centuries, the technique often resulted in images of animals, plants or human composed of a single line, or having that appearance.
