Descripción

European celebration centered upon the summer solstice, which takes place on an evening between June 21 and June 24. It is typically accompanied by gathering flowers and greenery, lighting of fires, and feasting. It was originally related to ancient fertility practices and ceremonies performed to ensure a successful harvest. With the advent of Christianity, St. John the Baptist's Day was set during this same period.
