Descripción
Species of evergreen tree having long, tufted foliage and a tall, columnar trunk up to 35 m in height, found along the coastal plain of the southern U.S. from Texas to Virginia and Florida. The species is a principal source of turpentine, kraft paper, paperboard, and book paper made in the United States. The hard, stiff, durable lumber was also used for ships, boxes, flooring, heavy construction, and millwork.
