Division of the plant kingdom containing conifers, which are gymnospermous exogens (stem grows by deposit on its outside), comprising trees and shrubs bearing cones; most are evergreen, with leaves that are needlelike, scale-like, with a single vein or, less commonly, strap-shaped with multiple veins.
