Descripción
Important fruit-producing tree in China and Japan; it is the most widely cultivated species of the Diospyros genus and among the oldest plants in cultivation, known for its use in China for more than 2000 years. The fruit is sweet, slightly tangy, and soft to fibrous in texture. It is known in numerous cultivars throughout eastern Asia, California, southern Europe, and Brazil.
