Descripción

Genus of 7 species of large tropical trees, deciduous or evergreen depending upon the species. The leaves are harvested as animal food; the bark and other parts used for medicinal purposes; the swellable gum is used for many purposes; and the wood, which resembles true mahogany of the genus Swietenia, is harvested for dugout canoes, furniture, and many other purposes.
