Descripción
Species of herbaceous perennial native to eastern Asia but cultivated elsewhere. Ramie is one of the oldest fiber crops. It has been used for fabric and other products for around 6,000 years; it is found in mummy cloths in China and ancient Egypt. It exists in several varieties, the fibers varying in color from white to green.
