Soricomorpha (order)

Order containing around 370 species in three families of shrews, moles, and kin. Moles (family Talpidae) are sometimes classified with hedgehogs in Erinaceomorpha. It is now often classified as a biological clade within the class of mammals, because members apparently are paraphyletic (i.e., a taxonomic group which does not include all the descendants of an ancestral taxon).
