Descripción

Members of a large family containing 38 genera and around 138 species of jungle fowl (from which the domestic chicken is descended), partridge, peacock, pheasant, and quail. Grouse are also sometimes classified as a subfamily of this family rather than a separate family. Some classifications assign the turkey to Phasianidae, whereas several others place it in the family Meleagrididae.
