Descripción

Members of a family containing six or more genera of heavily built birds with feathered legs and toes, typically nonmigratory and native to temperate and subarctic regions of the northern hemisphere, feeding mainly on vegetation and insects. Many species are used as game birds. They are sometimes classified as a subfamily of pheasants.
