Members of a class of around 23,000 species of ancient, relatively small, primarily marine crustaceans including barnacles, copepods, mystacocarids, tantulocarids, branchiurans, ostracods, and related groups, having five pairs of head appendages, a single median eye, and up to 11 trunk segments.
