Generally, scientists who study the occurrence and movement of water on and over the surface of the earth. The particular processes with which hydrologists are concerned are precipitation, evaporation and transpiration, stream flow, and groundwater flow. Their work includes flood control, supplying water for domestic and industrial purposes, irrigation, and the production of hydroelectric power.
