Descripción
Type of zigzag pattern in which each pointed element of the pattern is worked in a single, graduated color, with separate elements often of contrasting colors. It is used primarily in embroidery, especially for upholstery and rugs. It is exemplified in the upholstery of a set of 17th-century Italian chairs at the Bargello Museum in Florence and practiced from the 17th century, when it was known as Hungarian stitch, until modern times. It is also used for wallpapers and parquet floors.
