Descripción
Ancient animal motifs of Indian origin used throughout Asian art featuring a composite creature combining the forms of the crocodile and the elephant with a curly tail depicted as scrolls of greenery. The motif often serves as a framing architectural device, generally combined with lintels of free-standing gateways supported by carved pillars set on molded bases.
