Regions (geographic)

Demarcated areas of the earth that are homogeneous in terms of natural, historic, economic, political, or cultural characteristics that distinguish them from other areas. Prefer the more specific terms found under "administrative bodies," such as "counties" or "nations," or under "districts" or "landscapes (environments)." For specifically the political divisions of the nation of Italy, use "regions (administrative divisions)."
