Visual phenomena derived from the French word for 'watered' that is produced when a set of straight or curved lines spaced equally apart is superimposed onto another set at a particular angle, resulting in a distinct geometrical design; used to represent and identify fluid flow, wave motion, and optic and magnetic field patterns and flows.
