Religious ideology based on the tantra, one of the later Buddhist or Hindu scriptures dealing particularly with sexual and meditative rituals and techniques concerned with divine creative energy (shakti) and supranormal mystical goals. Tantrism appears in both Buddhism and Hinduism and has also influenced a number of other religious movements and trends since the 5th century.
