Descripción
A school of Jōdo-shū Buddhism founded by Bencho, a student of Honen who built Zendōji as a center for training in nembutsu in his hometown of Kyushu. There are many subdivisions of Chinzei, with Shirahata-ryū being the strongest ongoing group. Its center is at Chion-in but Zōjōji in Tokyo is also of special importance.
