Descripción
Describes the artwork created by the people of the Santa Cruz Islands. The inhabitants of the Santa Cruz Islands are most well known for their wooden figure sculpture, which are either free standing statues, carved on architectural posts, or sculpted as details on utensils. Important secular art objects from the Santa Cruz Islands are based on male personal ornamentation, such as discoidal breast adornments constructed of tridacna shell with a turtle-shell cover cut in a geometric design, headdresses covered with painted bark cloth, and fiber armbands made with geometric patterns.
