Descripción

Floor coverings handwoven in or near the city of Konya in south-central Turkey. Early carpet fragments attributed to the 13th century ruling Seljuks in this style have been found in the Ala al-Din Mosque of Konya. More recently rugs from the region have used design motifs found widely distributed throughout the country. Often the Konya rug is of a fleecy wool with a loose weave.
