The culture and styles of the Aegean island of Crete especially during the Minoan period between circa 3500 and 1050 BCE when Crete flourished as the political, economic, and cultural center of the Aegean. Significant artistic production includes fanciful and decorative pottery, small-scale sculptures such as the snake goddess figurines, and the construction and decoration of royal palaces.
