It is characterized by continued mass production and repetitive designs with little detail, as well as innovative work created with apparent care. Painting on these vessels typically includes elaborate ornaments arranged in formal patterns, a lively animation of design, and animals with attenuated proportions. During this phase animal scenes were gradually replaced by more scenes of human figures.</skos:note>

De stijl kenmerkt zich door doorlopende grootschalige productie en zich herhalende ontwerpen met weinig detaillering, maar ook door vernieuwend werk dat ogenschijnlijk met veel zorg werd vervaardigd. De beschildering van deze vazen bestaat meestal uit verfijnde versieringen in vaste patronen, een levendige variatie in ontwerpen en verkleind afgebeelde dieren. In de loop van deze periode werden dierentaferelen allengs vervangen door meer taferelen met mensen.</skos:note>
