Refers to the earliest phase of Geometric style, ending in the early ninth century BCE. It is characterized by the establishment of standard vessel types, including the amphora, pelike, stamnos, hydria, oinochoe, krater, kylix, and lekythos, and by painted abstract designs, such as triangles, checkers, and concentric circles.
