Refers to the style of architecture and painting developed in India during the British Colonial period. In architecture, the style is charcterized by a fusion of vernacular elements, such as polychrome cupolas, onion domes and arcaded vistas, with Classical and Gothic styles. In painting, the style is characterized by the depiction of images on a white background and precise, painstaking attention to detail.
