Descripción
Refers to the movement in Latin America in the early 20th century advocating a new social and political role for the indigenous peoples of regions formerly dominated by European elites. The movement became influential with the presidency of Lßszaro Cßsrdenas (1934-1940) and sought to revitalize Indian heritage through art and revolutionary movements, such as Aprismo, a social movement in Peru whose members proposed to rename Latin America, "Indo-America".
