Descripción
Crosses comprising broad, flat planks of wood on which is painted the crucified Christ, often in lifesize or monumental scale and with additional scenes or figures filling the terminations of the arms and the area above and beneath the figure of Christ. Painted crosses were particularly common in Byzantine and early Italian art, typically placed over or near the altar in churches.
