Descripción

Allegorical pictures, often inscribed with mottoes, common especially in Europe in the 16th and 17th centuries. Emblems combine both words and images, the interpretation of which requires intellectual effort and results in the communication of a moral lesson. For the simpler symbol that represents an idea, use "emblems (symbols)."
