Descripción

Coins, specifically the nickels designed by James E. Fraser and minted in the United States between 1913 and 1938, which were hand-carved by itinerant American workers of the time, many of whom were homeless. The coins used the nickels' images as their base, and were altered to depict images of loved ones or friends, then subsequently traded for meals, a place to sleep, or other favors.
